Vibrant, immersive color is bold yet calibrated, indelibly Van Leeuwen yet more so, an intensified version of the iconic branding. The color palette is enhanced by precise lighting solutions, and surprising materials that play with texture and sheen without compromising durability. A very tight footprint required thorough coordination and rigorous detailing. Niches are carved and backlit, providing some depth and shallow counters for lingering. A customized floating sign and retractable security grille maximize openness and visibility. Equipment and storage is carefully integrated in custom millwork and optimized both front and back of house. Scents wafting from waffle irons beckon passersby, glass freezer cases illuminate product, integrated screens and graphics ensure seamless queueing, sampling, ordering and paying. Amid the visual cacophony of Hudson Yards, the shop design entices all the senses.
